I had the opportunity to watch some of the student athletes play during the state tournament at our club. It was nice to see these young people and their passion for the game. Additionally, it was nice to see these talented athletes hit the ball to the same trouble areas on the course as me. Thank you to all who were able to come out and support this activity.
It has been a busy month at the club and we continue to make changes to better serve the membership. If you haven't had the opportunity to meet Piper Strand, our new restaurant manager, take time to introduce yourself. Piper has been very busy with training staff, working with committees and making changes in the restaurant operations to better serve you. Let her know how they are doing.
As is always the case, June is another busy month at the Tri City Country Club. I would encourage you to download a copy of the Golf and Events calendars from the web site, or ask Chris for copies. Consulting your copy of the calendars will allow you to take full advantage of the golfing and social activities at the club.
Remember that Wednesday night couples' golf has started. This is a good way to meet new couples and have a great time. The fierce competition begins at 4:30 and costs $2.00. If you have a really good round, you can win a golf ball or two. A new format introduced by the tournament committee this year allows you to draw for the team you will play with on the night, so you don't need to make a tee time, just show up, draw a card and play. On each Wednesday there are different games that have included throwing your ball out of the bunker, a free kick, and hit from the other couple's drive, to list but a few. (Chris, how is that different from our normal play?)
I would like to dispel a rumor that has been going around the club for several years. Ben and Rita don't always win couples' golf; they only win on the Wednesdays they play.
I hope all of you are enjoying your year at the Tri- City Country Club and are taking full advantage of the many events and activities. Remember, it's all about the fun.
Sincerely,
Dennis (Denny) Young
